Are you a “Modern Day Ruth”. Do you have characteristics like Ruth? To have any one of them is great, but to have all of them would be amazing! Ruth came from an idol-worshiping land and her life was destined for destruction (Hell), but God… We can all say those words “but God”. He brought Ruth from despair and destruction to blessing her with a man that was beyond her wildest dreams. He gave her a new life filled with joy, peace and every thing she ever dreamed of at her fingertips, including being in the lineage of Jesus Christ!

This is not a story about finding a husband. No, this is a love story about a woman finding her Savior. The Lord has wonderful blessings for His children. Ruth is a role model for each of us because on her journey of finding her Savior, characteristics were developed through her hardships. As I read Ruth’s story, there are many characteristics we will discuss over the next few days that can be a roadmap for each of us to truly become a “Modern Day Ruth”.

Read the book of Ruth (only 4 Chapters) and see how many characteristics you can find before we dive into this Series.

I’ve made poor decisions in the past where I done what I wanted to do. I didn’t consider the consequences of my actions at the time and it brought trouble into my life. The Lord tried to warn me, but I ignored Him.

I’ve seen family and friends make this same mistake. I remembering warning a family member not to marry someone because that person was not saved and didn’t live a life for Christ. The Lord warned her not to marry them… but she ignored Him. She thought she could change that guy. He had started going to church with her, so she thought that after they got married, he would continue going, he would get saved and they would live happily ever after. But guess what? He stopped going to church. They had a baby together. He wouldn’t work to provide and that marriage ended.

Let me give you a piece of advice… Don’t ignore the Lord. If the Lord has warned you ‘not to do’ something, you better obey. If you don’t, devastation will come to your life. Consequences are hard, especially when you knew to do better. If only you had listened to the Lord. If only…

When you listen and obey the voice of the Lord, life will be much better for you. God’s plan is always the best plan. Please, please don’t ignore Him.

“The LORD is merciful and gracious,

Slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.

He will not always chide: Neither will he keep his anger for ever. He hath not dealt with us after our sins; Nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

For as the heaven is high above the earth, So great is his mercy toward them that fear him.

As far as the east is from the west, So far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

Like as a father pitieth his children, So the LORD pitieth them that fear him.

For he knoweth our frame; He remembereth that we are dust.

As for man, his days are as grass: As a flower of the field, so he flourisheth. For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; And the place thereof shall know it no more.

But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, And his righteousness unto children's children;”

Psalm‬ ‭103‬:‭8‬-‭17‬ ‭KJV‬‬
